As a user, I want the tree and combo to refresh cleanly when creating a Space.  The Research Space combo box and the tree display is slow and not reliable in this case.

Its unpredictable when the new Space will show up on the Combo and it can take 10 seconds or more leading to the user clicking on things instead of waiting.  When the Space first appears or is selected from the combo box the topmost folder is displayed without a "open folder" icon. Usually some form of refresh, click-to-another Space and click-back is needed to get the tree to refresh.  When a throbber is shown it never completes.  One must again select another Space and often refresh to get the tree to show.

The issue is very repeatable.
